Parwana gained international attention when her story of child marriage to a much older man was broadcast on CNN. Following this story, TYTW got involved to relocate the girls, their siblings and their mothers to a safe house. Parwana was recently reunited with her father, Malik, in Herat, Afghanistan after he completed a 45-day substance abuse rehabilitation program. We are so grateful to Parwana’s father for allowing us to move his family to safety while he sought the treatment he needed. With start up funds from TYTW, he will begin his journey as a small shop owner so the family will have sustainable and consistent income.
